Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have gained momentum as a partial solution to the affordable housing crisis. The Washington Legislature recently passed laws that encourage ADUs and strip away barriers to their construction and use. This presentation will provide an overview of Washington’s evolving ADU laws and the policies behind the legislative push. We will discuss what is now required and prohibited, and address the impacts of ADUs on community associations formed before and after the laws took effect.
